The wait list isn’t always a full-stop: our layout champions have been known to pull exhibitors from various categories on the wait list to fill any last-minute final spots that open up on the show floor… So make sure to get on the list FAST so you are there if they go looking! Convention Schedule & App Now Available

ComiCon fans got a jump-start on Friday towards planning their trip to the upcoming September 23 Forest City Comicon featuring Project Play at the London Convention Centre.  Organizers released the hotly anticipated schedule for the fourth-annual show along with its accompanying schedule app (iOS, Android). The schedule features a wide range of activities and presentations for all ages, the overwhelming majority of which are included free of charge with admission.

From “The Lord of the Rings”: Fans to Meet Billy Boyd in September at Forest City Comicon

Billy Boyd, best known for his portrayal of “Pippin” in Peter Jackson’s award-winning “The Lord of the Rings” film trilogy, is the latest guest announced as appearing at the Forest City Comicon featuring Project Play.  The fourth installment of the wildly popular downtown event event is set to run at the London Convention Centre on Saturday, September 23.  Advanced discount and early tickets for early admission to the event are available now at www.forestcitycomicon.ca or at selected stores in London.

Wink Yahoo (Scott Yaphe) set for “UhOh! Live”

“PUNISHER! CONTROL” That’s right, the legend, Wink Yahoo (Scott Yaphe) from YTV’s 90s game show “UhOh!” is coming to Forest City Comicon! – – Get your tickets now “UhOh!: Live”, a convention version of the original show, is included with your admission!

After graduating from Ryerson University, Yaphe joined the cast of YTV’s sketch comedy show ‘It’s Alive!’, which lasted three seasons. When the show ended, his beloved character Wink Yahoo was granted his own series entitled ‘Uh-Oh!’. The wacky, slime-filled game show aired from 1997-2003 on YTV following the network’s “The Zone” programming block.

In addition to his work on YTV, voice and commercial work keep Scott busy. He spent 7 years as the voice of Rogers Sportsnet and 4 years as the Promo Voice of SUN TV. He has appeared in dozens of memorable commercials. Scott has most recently voiced the role of “Lucky” in the 3D animated feature film, “The Nut Job” and is currently shooting Guillermo Del Toro’s adaptation of his vampire horror novel, “The Strain”, playing the role of Sledge. He has also had supporting roles on TMN Canada’s ‘Bloodletting and Miraculous Cures’ and Global/ABC’s ‘Rookie Blue’ and had recurring roles on both Disney XD’s ‘Aaron Stone’ and Warner Television’s ‘Unnatural History’. Yaphe has also shared the big screen with Jennifer Love Hewitt in the Jackie Chan film, The Tuxedo, and with two-time Oscar winner Hillary Swank in the Amelia Earhart biopic, Amelia. He can also be seen in the film, STAG, starring Donald Faison (Scrubs), Eva Amurri (Californication) and Jon Dore (The Jon Dore Show) on TMN in Januray 2014.

Willow Dawson: Guest News!

Ontario-based Author / Illustrator Willow Dawson is set to appear at Forest City Comicon featuring Project Play this coming September 23 at the London Convention Centre.

Willow Dawson’s picture book THE WOLF-BIRDS received a School Library Journal STARRED REVIEW and was a finalist for four awards including, The Ontario Library Association Forest of Reading Blue Spruce Award (2017) and The TD Canadian Children’s Literature Award (2016). Her graphic novels include, AVIS DOLPHIN with Frieda Wishinsky (Groundwood Books), HYENA IN PETTICOATS (Penguin Books), LILA AND ECCO’S DIY COMICS CLUB (Kids Can Press) and NO GIRLS ALLOWED with Susan Hughes (Kids Can Press). She is currently illustrating WHITE AS MILK, RED AS BLOOD, the first fully illustrated English edition of Franz Xaver von Schonwerth fairy tales, translated by Shelley Tanaka (Alfred A. Knopf, 2018).

Free Comic Book Day Schedule 2017

London’s local comic shops will once again give away more than 20,000 comic books absolutely free!

L.A. Mood Comics & Games and Heroes Comics will be participating again downtown, as well as The Comic Book Collector, Neo Tokyo, and Worlds Away in Old East Village.

Free Comic Book Day began in 2002, and is a worldwide celebration of comics and pop culture always falling on the first Saturday in May. Across North America, more than 6 million free comic books will be given away.

With special programming featuring the London Public Library’s costume contest, and some awesome comic themed surprises.

COSTUME CONTEST

The London Public Library’s annual costume contest is back again ***MOVED INDOORS TO Citi Plaza***! Fans and comic book lovers of all ages are encouraged to dress up as their favourite characters on Free Comic Book Day and show off their best costumes. Prizes are awarded to different age groups from preschooler to adult.
Participants must be registered by 2pm with signed entry form at the Library’s table. Participants can pre-register at the Central Library. The contest begins at 2:30pm Saturday.

COMIC SHOP CROSSOVER
The annual Comic Shop Crossover will return. Passports available in stores!

TING COMIC AND GRAPHIC ARTS FESTIVAL
April 25 – May 13, 2017
Named after Merle “Ting” Tingley, London Free Press’ editorial cartoonist from 1948-1986, Ting Comic & Graphic Arts Festival showcases past, present and future comic and graphic artists from London and the greater Southwestern Ontario area. Tingfest centres around a gallery show at The ARTS Project, featuring a pop-up comic shop, workshops, artist talks, a children’s creation station, and more. Drop in during Free Comic Book Day to experience their Superhero Photo Booth!

LIVE MUSIC
Captain Finn and the Salty Sea Dogs will be performing on Dundas Street from approx 10am-2pm!

We are also partnering up with London Arts Council to bring you a London Arts Live pop-up with actor Dan Ebbs, visual artists Nic Degroot and Sheri Cowan, and musicians Trusty Fox on Dundas Street!
