Forest City ComiCon Announces 2018 Date & Return to London Convention Centre

October 3, 2017

Fans lined up around the block to be among the first into the 2017 event.

The Forest City ComiCon will return for its fifth-annual event next year when it comes back to the London Convention Centre on Saturday, September 22, 2018. Earlier this month fans lined up around the block to be among the first to enter the fourth-annual show. Thousands of enthusiasts descended on the London Convention Centre in Downtown London to take in the annual celebration of nerd & geek culture. The show featured special guests, games, exhibitors, cosplay, and special events.

The 2018 date announcement is the earliest the Forest City ComiCon has ever released a date for an event. The goal of the announcement is to root the show on the same weekend it ran this year, allowing fans and exhibitors from around the region to begin looking forward to and planning for the next installment of the popular show. The organizing group for the convention is already hard at work preparing the event.

“This year’s show vastly exceeded expectations,” said committee member John Houghton. “Early estimates are suggesting that the number of unique admissions to the event was up this year from previous years. Most importantly, we’ve been told that our fan experience is one of the best around and gets better every year. This is what we will be building on.”

Billy Boyd shares stores from the set of “The Lord of the Rings” in front of a capacity crowd.

The highlights of this year’s event included Billy Boyd (“Pippin” from Lord of the Rings) taking to the Randy Sheffield Investor’s Group Main Stage for a spirited, room-capacity presentation in the afternoon. The Fanshawe College Cosplay Contest proved once again to be an annual highlight. Fans also particularly enjoyed the art-based shenanigans of Super Art Fight and the many voices of Disney impressionist Brian Hull.

The fan survey from this year’s event, along with opportunities for fans to suggest guests for next year’s show, is available now at www.forestcitycomicon.ca. Tickets and other event details will be announced as they come available.
